About the Deer Valley East Village Ski Lifts
From the first footing to the final operational lift, this Deer Valley Ski Lift project represents what Signature does best — complex, high-consequence construction delivered with precision, safety, and care. We’re honored to have contributed to Deer Valley Resort’s continued evolution as a world-class destination.
Spanning multiple ski off-seasons, our scope encompassed site and structural concrete, structural steel, and the full installation of equipment for seven ski lifts and four major support structures and buildings. Notable finished elements include Deer Valley’s signature green sheathing, metal grating platforms, and maintenance crane hoists.
All lift equipment and templates were supplied by Doppelmayr. Structural plans were developed jointly by GSBS Architects and DM engineers — many of which were detailed in millimeters, underscoring the tolerance and accuracy required in the field.
The logistical challenges of high-altitude construction are significant, and this project was no exception. Our team deployed spider excavators on steep hillsides and coordinated Sikorsky Black Hawk helicopters to fly in tools and concrete across terrain inaccessible by conventional means. In total, 5,163 cubic yards of concrete were placed via helicopter operations. Each tower and column contains approximately 3,000–5,000 pounds of reinforcing steel, and some footing cages exceeded 8,000 pounds — requiring them to be broken into sections before they could be flown to elevation.
