About the Wasatch Range Revival
A dated Park City, Utah log cabin was transformed into a light-filled, modern mountain retreat by JLF Architects, Big-D Signature, and Verdone Landscape Architects. The whole-home remodel replaced bulky river rock and round log beams with Montana moss rock and sleek steel trusses, while a redesigned floor plan opened the interior into more intimate, functional spaces centered on a European-style kitchen with views of the Wasatch Mountains. The primary bathroom was gutted and reimagined — its vaulted ceiling lowered to create a playroom and storage above, and its dated finishes replaced with Taj Mahal stone, an L-shaped double vanity, and an Iris cast-iron tub beneath a curated art piece. Outside, the team crafted a seamless outdoor entertaining space just steps from the ski lifts, anchored by a hidden swimming pool elevated above eye level to appear to flow into the water feature below.
