About the Mountain Camp
Conceived as both a gathering place and a mountain refuge, this home balances sophistication with whimsy — reflecting its owners’ love of art, adventure, and life well lived. Designed to withstand the alpine climate without sacrificing warmth, it pairs comfort with a distinctly curated personality.
The plan separates into two volumes: a dark timber-clad wing for communal living and a stone-clad wing for private sleeping quarters, joined by glazed connectors that frame a central courtyard. Floor-to-ceiling windows throughout maintain an unbroken connection to the surrounding peaks.
Inside, wide oak floors and stained hemlock walls establish a contemporary reinterpretation of the classic ski chalet. Rich textiles — plaid, boiled wool, alpaca, and velvet — bring warmth and texture to generous seating arrangements, while the owners’ collected artworks, including a feathered piece from New Zealand, add moments of personal discovery. The communal spaces carry a light-hearted spirit drawn from Anglo-American camp traditions: a kitchen combining honey-toned wood with British-green cabinetry, and a powder room dressed in saturated florals, navy wainscoting, and green stone. The bedrooms, by contrast, are intentionally serene — pale, minimal, and restful — drawing guests back toward the heart of the home.
