Aspen Meadows
Built into the hillside among a stand of aspens, this Jackson Hole house deftly joins simple, clean-lined forms and remarkable walls of contemporary glass—taking in nearly the entire length of the Teton Range—with aged, character-rich timber and stone that ground the modern home in the ancient landscape and regional history. A design-build collaboration among JLF Architects, Big-D Signature, and WRJ Design, the house is entirely bespoke, layered with personalized meaning for the homeowners in every detail, from the custom spice shelf in the pantry to the stain on exterior reclaimed wood inspired by Tennessee farm buildings. A separate hand-hewn guesthouse showcases a dramatic executive office; expansive indoor-outdoor living space incorporates spa, fire pit, and dining pavilion; and considered elements such as exterior stone “remnant” walls and the use of board-formed concrete for the primary bedroom fireplace exemplify the house’s transformative linking of old and new.
